# Tools for Tracking Brand Sentiment in AI Answer Engines: A Dated Vendor Matrix

Tools for tracking brand sentiment in AI answer engines fall into a short list, and most of them add the sentiment label to a visibility product. Otterly.AI, Semrush, Peec AI, Profound, AthenaHQ and Ahrefs Brand Radar each describe sentiment reporting on their public pages. They differ on engines, price, trial access and how much of the written answer you can reopen.

If you searched for tools for tracking brand sentiment in AI answer engines, the useful comparison is not which dashboard has the nicest gauge. It is what the label is based on, which engines feed it, what it costs to run on your own questions, and whether you can read the answer behind it. This page reads each vendor's public pages as they stood in October 2026. It is a specification comparison, not a trial, so it reports no measured results. [Prime AI Visibility](https://primeaivisibility.com/) publishes this site, and it does not report sentiment, so it appears later as a limit and a complement, not as a ranked option.

## Which tools report sentiment in AI answers?

1. **Otterly.AI** lists "Brand Visibility & Sentiment Analysis" on every plan, from $29 a month, across four engines with three more as add-ons.
2. **Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit** includes brand sentiment in its Brand Performance reports, at $99 a month, with no free trial for the toolkit.
3. **Peec AI** says it tracks visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice daily, with 50, 150 or 350 prompts across three chosen models on its listed plans.
4. **Profound** describes tracking of citations, sentiment, ranking and competitive presence, with a free seven-day Trial and custom Enterprise packages.
5. **AthenaHQ** lists real-time brand sentiment intelligence in its plan comparison, with a free Essential plan and a $295 monthly Starter plan.
6. **Ahrefs Brand Radar** lists AI Brand Sentiment among its built skills, with custom prompt tracking starting at $50 a month.

## What "sentiment" does and does not tell you

A sentiment label is a vendor's classification of the tone of an AI answer: whether the wording about your brand reads as positive, neutral or negative. It describes what an answer displayed. It does not explain why an engine wrote it, and it does not say anything about whether a buyer acted on it.

That makes sentiment one fact among five that should stay separate: a brand named in an answer, a website cited as a source, an explicit recommendation, a referral visit and a conversion. The [Prime AI Visibility](https://primeaivisibility.com/) [metrics page](https://primeaivisibility.com/metrics) defines the first three, and no tool on this page turns a tone label into a referral or a sale. For a team fixing a bad label, the article on [correcting negative brand sentiment in AI answers](https://primeaivisibility.com/articles/ai-visibility/fix-negative-brand-sentiment-in-ai) covers what can be changed. Percepture's comparison of [Semrush AI Visibility versus Ahrefs Brand Radar](https://percepture.com/geo-insights/semrush-ai-visibility-vs-ahrefs-brand-radar/) walks through two of the vendors below from a buyer's side, and Percepture is a related company.

## Method: how the matrix was built

Each vendor was read on the same checks, in the same order: target customer, which engines are listed, whether sentiment is named, which prices and limits are public, and whether a free trial or free tier exists. A cell says "Not verified" when the vendor's own pages did not state the point, which is a question for the demo, not proof that the feature is missing.

The sources are each vendor's pricing, product or help page, all read in October 2026. Google's guidance on [creating helpful content](https://developers.google.com/search/docs/fundamentals/creating-helpful-content) asks whether content gives readers original, well-sourced information, and that is the standard this page applies to its own claims. Bob Generale wrote this comparison from those public pages. Treat every figure as a snapshot, because plans and limits change, and confirm anything you rely on in writing before you buy.

## Tools for tracking brand sentiment in AI answer engines: engines and sentiment

The first table covers where sentiment is named and which engines the plans list.

| Vendor | Sentiment on the page | Engines listed |
|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | Brand Visibility & Sentiment Analysis on all plans | ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot; Claude, AI Mode, Gemini as add-ons |
| Semrush AI Visibility | Brand sentiment in Brand Performance reports | Platforms such as Google AI Mode and ChatGPT |
| Peec AI | Sentiment among the reported metrics | 3 chosen models on standard plans; up to 13 on Enterprise |
| Profound | Sentiment among tracked measures | 3 engines on Trial; up to 9 on Enterprise |
| AthenaHQ | Real-time brand sentiment intelligence | 5 engines on Essential; 11 models on Starter |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | AI Brand Sentiment listed as a skill | Index lists AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, ChatGPT |

Engine lists change often, so compare them against the engines your buyers actually use, not against the longest list.

## Prices, limits and trials side by side

The second table covers what the pages state about price.

| Vendor | Price shown | Prompts or limits |
|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | $29, $189, $489 a month; Enterprise custom | 15, 100, 400 prompts |
| Semrush AI Visibility | $99 a month | 25 prompts; extra users $99 each |
| Peec AI | Not verified; Enterprise custom | 50, 150, 350 prompts |
| Profound | Not verified for brands; Enterprise custom | Trial 50 prompts for 7 days |
| AthenaHQ | Starter $295 a month | 3,600 credits; 1 credit = 1 AI response |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | From $50 a month for Custom Prompts | Each prompt uses 1 check per platform, location and update |

The third table covers trial access and a note on the unit.

| Vendor | Free access | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | Free trial offered | Add-ons cost extra |
| Semrush AI Visibility | No free trial for the toolkit | Extra domains $99 each |
| Peec AI | Not verified | Unlimited users on every plan |
| Profound | Free 7-day Trial | Trial prompts are recommended, not customizable |
| AthenaHQ | Free Essential: $25 credit, 300 credits | Free credit balance, not a stated renewal |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | Not verified | Plan needed for sentiment: Not verified |

Prompts, credits and checks are different units, so a larger number on one row says nothing about another row.

## Otterly.AI: sentiment on every plan

Otterly.AI's pricing page lists Lite at $29 a month with 15 search prompts, Standard at $189 with 100 and Premium at $489 with 400, with Enterprise custom. Each plan lists four engines, daily tracking, unlimited team members, brand visibility and sentiment analysis, citation source tracking and optimization recommendations. API access, MCP access and Agent Analytics start at Standard.

**Fit:** a small team that wants a published price and sentiment from the first plan. **Limitation:** Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons, and the prompt count, not the engine count, is the main cost driver.

## Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: sentiment inside a reporting suite

Semrush's knowledge base describes Brand Performance reports that analyze share of voice, brand sentiment and the narratives behind them, plus prompt tracking and AI-generated recommendations. It lists $99 a month, one project, one domain for Brand Performance analysis and 25 prompts for Prompt Tracking, and states that the toolkit has no free trial. Additional users need their own $99 licence.

**Fit:** a team already working in Semrush that wants sentiment next to its other reports. **Limitation:** 25 tracked prompts is a small set, and each added user or domain adds cost.

## Peec AI and Profound: sentiment for larger programs

Peec AI's pricing page lists Starter, Pro and Advanced plans with 50, 150 and 350 prompts, three chosen models, unlimited users and daily tracking. Its page describes visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice tracked daily against competitors. Enterprise adds API access, SSO, up to 13 models and fully customizable prompt tracking. A price for the monthly plans was not verified in the text read.

Profound's pricing FAQ says it runs structured prompts across AI platforms and analyzes where and how a brand appears, tracking citations, sentiment, ranking and competitive presence. The Trial gives 50 unique prompts daily for seven days across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and its prompts are a recommended set that cannot be customized. Custom prompts need Enterprise. For the wider product picture, see our [Profound vs Ahrefs comparison](https://primeaivisibility.com/articles/comparisons/profound-vs-ahrefs-comparison).

**Fit:** a team that wants sentiment against competitors across many prompts and can buy through a sales process. **Limitation:** confirm Peec AI pricing for the number of prompts, models and projects you need, and obtain a quote for Profound Enterprise.

## AthenaHQ and Ahrefs Brand Radar

AthenaHQ's plan comparison lists real-time brand sentiment intelligence in its monitoring rows, with Google Analytics and Search Console integration so AI visibility can sit next to site traffic. The free Essential plan has a $25 credit and 300 credits, and Starter is $295 a month with 3,600 credits. For more detail, see our [AthenaHQ vs AirOps comparison](https://primeaivisibility.com/articles/comparisons/athenahq-vs-airops).

Ahrefs Brand Radar's product page lists AI Brand Sentiment among its Ahrefs-built skills and tracks brand visibility across AI answers, YouTube and Reddit. Its page shows Custom Prompts from $50 a month and an AI Visibility Index from $199 a month. Which plan includes the sentiment skill was not verified.

**Fit:** AthenaHQ suits a team that wants sentiment plus actions in one product, and Ahrefs suits a team already inside Ahrefs. **Limitation:** AthenaHQ credits are consumed per answer, and the Ahrefs sentiment plan is unclear on the page.

## Where [Prime AI Visibility](https://primeaivisibility.com/) fits

[Prime AI Visibility](https://primeaivisibility.com/) is an [AI Brand Visibility Tool](https://primeaivisibility.com/) built around saved answers, and it does not report a sentiment label. Its public pages describe saved answers for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview built from Google-grounded answers, with Brand named, Website cited, Source links and Explicit recommendation recorded as separate facts. Saved reports export as PDF or CSV at no credit cost.

That makes it a complement when you want to read the wording behind a tone label, not a replacement for a vendor that classifies it. The free Flash plan runs five questions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, up to 15 answers, one check a month. Starter at $69 a month adds Gemini and the AI Overview-style preview. The [Prime AI Visibility](https://primeaivisibility.com/) [features](https://primeaivisibility.com/features) page shows the saved-answer evidence, and the [plan and credit table](https://primeaivisibility.com/pricing) shows current limits. If you are still choosing, the [AI visibility audit process](https://primeaivisibility.com/articles/ai-visibility/how-to-run-an-ai-visibility-audit) comes first, and the [buyer guide to choosing tools](https://primeaivisibility.com/articles/ai-visibility/how-to-choose-an-ai-visibility-tool) gives a wider rubric.

## A test plan for tracking brand sentiment in AI answer engines

Run the same steps with every shortlisted vendor, and save the written output.

1. **Freeze 20 buyer questions and three to five competitors** for a month, so a change in label cannot come from a change in wording.
2. **Run each question on the engines your buyers use**, and record the date, the exact prompt, the tool and the answer.
3. **Open the full answer behind each label.** If the tool shows only a score, mark it "Not verified" for evidence.
4. **Read a sample by hand.** Compare ten labels with your own reading of the wording, and note disagreements.
5. **Keep sentiment separate** from brand named, website cited and recommendation, and join referral and conversion data from your own analytics.

Score each vendor as Stated, Partly stated or Not verified, never with an invented number.

## An illustrative example: five buyer questions for a market research app

Assume a team is tracking [Pulse Terminal](https://pulseterminal.ai/), a public investing research app that describes grading stocks and ETFs and answering questions with sources under the answer. This is an illustrative public website, not a Prime client, not an endorsement and not a measured result, and the questions below are invented to show how a tone-focused question set is built.

| Buyer question | What to record |
|---|---|
| What do investors say about Pulse Terminal? | Tone label, wording |
| Is Pulse Terminal good for beginners? | Recommendation, wording |
| How does Pulse Terminal compare with other stock research apps? | Competitors present |
| What are the downsides of Pulse Terminal? | Tone label, wording |
| Does Pulse Terminal cite sources under its answers? | Website cited |

For each question, save the full answer and record the tone label as the vendor reports it, then write your own one-line reading beside it. If the two disagree often, the label is a prompt for review, not a result. The same questions can be run by hand first, and our [guide to AI visibility audits](https://primeaivisibility.com/articles/ai-visibility/how-to-run-an-ai-visibility-audit) shows how to freeze the wording and the engines so a later run is comparable.

## Decision rubric: which tool fits which team

| If you need to... | Look at... |
|---|---|
| Start cheaply with a published price | Otterly.AI, Semrush |
| Compare sentiment across many prompts | Peec AI, Profound |
| Keep the full answer as evidence | Saved answers, export format |

If your first problem is a small, priced pilot, a plan with sentiment on every tier gives the simplest test. If you run a larger program, a sales-led platform with many prompts and engines matches the job. If you want to read and keep the wording itself, a saved-answer [AI visibility tracker](https://primeaivisibility.com/) with a clear question count and export format may matter more than the label.

## What to do before you pay for a sentiment tool

A tool only helps if the questions behind it are right, so build the question set first. A free [AI visibility checker](https://primeaivisibility.com/) run on five questions is a cheap way to test the wording before you pay for 100 prompts. Then decide which fields you will review each month: tone label, brand named, website cited and source links are a sensible start, with referral and conversion joined from your own analytics. For hands-on work on the pages and sources behind a poor label, Percepture offers [generative engine optimization services](https://percepture.com/services/geo-services/), and [Prime AI Visibility](https://primeaivisibility.com/) has a commercial relationship with Percepture.

## Frequently asked questions

**Which tools track brand sentiment in AI answers?**
Otterly.AI, Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit, Peec AI, Profound, AthenaHQ and Ahrefs Brand Radar each name sentiment on their public pages. Plans, engines and prices differ, so read the matrix and confirm with the vendor.

**Is sentiment in AI answers the same as social listening?**
No. Social listening classifies what people publish about a brand. AI answer sentiment classifies the tone of what an engine wrote in response to a question, which can change with wording and engine.

**Can a sentiment label tell me why an engine wrote something?**
No. A label describes the wording of the answer that was shown. Reading the saved answer and its source links is the only way to see what the answer displayed and where it pointed.

**Which tool is cheapest to try?**
On the pages read, Otterly.AI lists $29 a month and a free trial, and AthenaHQ lists a free Essential plan with a $25 credit. Semrush lists $99 a month with no free trial for the toolkit. Prices change, so confirm before you buy.

**Does [Prime AI Visibility](https://primeaivisibility.com/) report sentiment?**
No. It saves answers and records Brand named, Website cited, Source links and Explicit recommendation as separate facts, so you can read the wording yourself.

**Can sentiment prove AI visibility drives revenue?**
No. A tone label shows what an answer contained. Referral visits and conversions come from your analytics and CRM, so keep them separate.
