The Prime AI Visibility Score is a 0–100 summary of observed visibility across the requested check scope. It considers saved brand and website evidence, competitor context, and completeness. Missing requested answers cannot improve the score. It is not a universal AI ranking, and Prime AI does not publish internal weights or private reach thresholds.

Start with the evidence

Prime AI records answers to the questions and AI tools you choose. A website citation counts as visibility even when the answer does not spell out the brand name. Reports keep several observations separate:

  • Visible in AI answers: answers that name the brand, cite its website, or do both, counted once.
  • Brand named: answers that explicitly name the brand or an approved name variant.
  • Website cited: answers with at least one qualifying link to a tracked brand website.
  • Source links: the individual citation links observed in saved answers.
  • Explicit recommendation: an answer that clearly recommends the brand; naming or citing alone is not enough.

The saved answers remain important because a summary cannot explain every result by itself.

Scope and completeness

A score belongs to the requested check scope: its questions, tools, market, persona, and time period. Reports distinguish requested, returned, and usable answers and show missing results. A score can be unavailable or provisional when the evidence is insufficient.

Missing requested answers cannot improve the score. Prime AI does not describe missing answers as though they simply disappear from every denominator. Percentages are labeled with their actual denominator because different rates can describe different sets of evidence.

Comparing scores over time

Use a Comparable change: align the question set, tools, persona, market, and measurement method closely enough that the two checks describe substantially the same scope. AI answers can vary, so one movement should be reviewed with its saved evidence and completion status.

Prime AI reports observations between comparable checks. It does not claim that a content edit caused a gain, that a fixed point movement is statistically significant, or that scores from different question sets are directly interchangeable.

Check cadence

Monthly checks are the default for active saved questions and plan-supported tools. Weekly and temporary daily schedules are optional in Settings, and an on-demand check can be run when needed. Scheduled and on-demand checks use credits.

Supported tools

Prime AI supports ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and an AI Overview-style preview using Google-grounded answers. The Google option is not a capture or exact reproduction of the live Google Search AI Overview panel. Provider availability can affect returned answers, and API-based observations can differ from a person's consumer-app experience.

What the score does not tell you

The score does not provide:

  1. A rank. Generated answers do not expose a stable universal ranking.
  2. Traffic or revenue estimates. Answer visibility does not establish clicks or commercial outcomes.
  3. A forecast. The score summarizes saved observations; it does not predict future rankings, citations, traffic, revenue, or time to win.
  4. Causal attribution. A before-and-after difference does not prove that a particular edit caused the movement.
  5. Hidden model reasoning. Source links are observed evidence, not proof of training sources, internal reasoning, or why an answer changed.

An illustrative example

Suppose 14 usable answers are saved. Twelve cite the tracked website, while none spell out the brand name in the answer text. The site is Visible in AI answers in 12 of 14 answers, Website cited in 12 of 14, and Brand named in 0 of 14. That is not a contradiction: a qualifying website link counts as visibility.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Prime AI Visibility Score?

It is a 0–100 summary of observed visibility across the requested check scope, considering saved brand and website evidence, competitor context, and completeness.

Does Prime AI publish the score's weights?

No. Prime AI does not publish internal weights, private reach thresholds, or the older public weighted formula.

Can I compare two scores?

Compare them only when the question set, tools, persona, market, and measurement method are sufficiently aligned, then review completion and saved evidence alongside the movement.

Does a higher score prove my content change worked?

No. A score change is an observation between checks, not proof that a particular edit caused the result.

What happens when answers are missing?

Reports distinguish requested, returned, usable, and missing answers; missing requested answers cannot improve the score, and a score may be unavailable or provisional when evidence is insufficient.
