Hotwire GAIO.tech AI Visibility Metrics: What Hotwire Spark Measures in 2026

If you searched "hotwire gaio.tech ai visibility metrics", here is the summary. GAIO.tech was the AI visibility tool that Hotwire, the technology communications consultancy, launched in May 2024. In March 2025 Hotwire renamed it Hotwire Spark. Spark reports how often a brand is mentioned in ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overview, the context around it, which competitors appear alongside it, and which sources and pages the answers cite.
This review uses Hotwire's own product pages, press releases and blog as they read on October 15, 2026, plus independent trade coverage of the launch. It compares public specifications and is not a hands-on test. Where we add professional judgement, we say so. Prime AI Visibility publishes this site and is evaluated on the same criteria, with its own limitations.
Hotwire GAIO.tech AI visibility metrics: the short answer
- The product: GAIO.tech launched on May 21, 2024 for Hotwire clients. Hotwire's March 2025 release calls it "Hotwire Spark (formerly known as GAIO.tech)". The gaio.tech address now redirects to Hotwire's AI Lab page.
- What Spark measures: brand mentions, the context of each mention, competitor visibility, the sources and webpages answers cite, and the media outlets and analyst firms that appear most often.
- Engines: ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overview, according to the Spark FAQ.
- How it is sold: a managed service priced per report, with volume discounts for multiple reports or ongoing monitoring. There is no free trial; Hotwire offers a demo with a sample report.
- Related products: Hotwire Radiate scores content for "AI-citability" and suggests rewrites and schema markup. Hotwire Ignite is an agent-based account research tool, not an AI visibility tracker.
- Our judgement: Spark suits marketing and communications teams that want a strategist-led report they can act on with PR and content work. It is a weaker fit for teams that want to log in and rerun the same questions themselves every week.
GAIO.tech, Hotwire Spark and a name to avoid confusing
Hotwire's 2024 launch release described GAIO.tech as its "first proprietary AI tool". It said the tool showed how brands and products appear in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, and identified "the most prominent answers and sources" so PR and marketing teams could see which media outlets, channels and influencers the answers drew on. PRWeek covered the launch, reporting that Sven Winnefeld would oversee the new AI innovation team and GAIO.tech.
The name comes from a discipline. A March 2024 Hotwire blog post by Winnefeld defined Generative AI Optimization (GAIO) as an emerging practice similar to SEO, said Hotwire had previously called it "Chatbot Optimization", and credited the term to German SEO expert Philipp Kloeckner. The post argued that in chat-based search, brand mentions matter more than backlinks.
In March 2025, Hotwire Global announced an AI Lab and renamed the tool Hotwire Spark. The release says features added since launch include AI agents that gather more data and synthetic personas, which show how answers and sources differ between target audiences.
One name collision matters for buyers. GAIO Tech at gaiotech.ai is a separate company that describes itself as an AI search optimization platform based in Antwerp and Barcelona, formerly GAIO Marketing. It is not Hotwire's product. If a sales conversation, invoice or login page uses "GAIO", check which company it belongs to.
The metrics Hotwire Spark reports
Hotwire's Spark site lists what a report covers. In its own words, you see "how often you're mentioned, what context surrounds your brand, which competitors appear alongside you, and which sources AI-search engines cite". Grouped by the question each metric answers:
Presence and position
- Mentions: how often the brand appears in answers to the chosen queries.
- Competitive visibility: how the brand ranks in visibility against named competitors.
- Landscape: which brands and products appear in answers across the category.
- Share of model: Hotwire uses this phrase for the outcome it aims to increase. Its public pages do not define how it is calculated, so ask for the formula.
Sources and citations
- Cited sources: which sources answers reference when they discuss the category.
- Cited webpages: the specific pages and content assets on your site that answers cite.
- Media and analyst influence: the publications most often cited, and the analyst firms Hotwire describes as most influential for your audience.
Narrative and next steps
- Context: what the answers say around each mention, used to shape messaging.
- Prospect questions: the questions buyers ask AI about the category, intended for sales and messaging teams.
- Recommended topics: content topics Hotwire suggests to raise "citability".
Spark's FAQ says reports query the AI platforms fresh at the moment of generation, rather than showing historical snapshots, and that reports can be run in languages including French, German, Spanish, Korean and Japanese. Reports are delivered by secure link, download as PDFs, and data exports are available as CSV.
Hotwire's AI visibility products for marketers
Hotwire's AI Lab page lists three proprietary products. Only one is an AI visibility tracker.
- Hotwire Spark: Search Visibility & Insights Platform. Monitoring and reports, described above. The AI Lab page lists multi-LLM monitoring, semantic search analysis, real-time strategic recommendations and brand narrative influence tracking.
- Hotwire Radiate: AI Search Optimization Engine. Described as "Generative Engine Optimization as a service". You upload a draft or enter the URL of a published asset such as a blog post, case study or press release. Radiate measures an "AI-citability score", returns an optimized version and supplies schema markup code. Hotwire's June 2025 release says it covers ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity.
- Hotwire Ignite: Agentic-AI Research Platform. Multiple AI agents that research accounts by combining web analysis with CRM data, intent signals and technographics. It produces market research, competitive analysis and personas, not AI answer tracking.
Hotwire also sells AI strategy consulting and custom agent engineering through the same AI Lab, and runs PR, digital marketing and analytics services. In our judgement, Spark is best understood as the measurement step inside a consultancy's service, not as standalone software.
Do Hotwire's AI visibility products include agent analytics?
Some vendors use "agent analytics" for tracking AI crawler visits and AI-referred traffic on your own site. Profound sells a product with that name, for example. Hotwire's Spark and AI Lab pages describe monitoring what answers say and cite. They do not describe tracking AI crawlers, bot visits or AI-referred sessions.
The "agentic" products Hotwire does sell are different. Spark uses AI agents to gather data, and Ignite uses agents for account research. Neither is described as measuring traffic from AI assistants.
Spark's FAQ explains how impact is measured instead. Most clients run a follow-up report three to six months after implementing recommendations to measure citation growth and positioning. Beyond citation metrics, the FAQ says clients track paid media ROI, brand sentiment shifts and website conversion rates, which come from their own analytics.
Hotwire Spark mapped to the five AI visibility signals
This is the original analysis in this review. Mapping Spark's published metrics to the five signals shows what a report covers directly and what needs another source.
| Signal | Spark report | Other source |
|---|---|---|
| Mention | Yes | Not needed |
| Citation | Yes | Not needed |
| Recommend | Partial | Answer text |
| Referral | Not listed | Analytics |
| Conversion | Not listed | Analytics, CRM |
Notes: Mention covers mentions and competitor visibility. Citation covers cited sources and webpages. Recommend is partial because Spark reports context and competitive position, but its public pages do not list a metric that records whether an answer explicitly recommends the brand. Referral and Conversion are "not listed" because Spark's pages do not describe them; its FAQ says clients track conversion changes themselves.
In our judgement, the gap that matters most is between reports. Because each report is generated fresh and Hotwire suggests a follow-up after three to six months, the comparison is only as good as the consistency of the queries, competitors and engines across both reports. For background on why signals move independently, see what AI search visibility means and how to set an AI visibility strategy around fixed buyer questions.
A before-and-after protocol for a Spark engagement
Spark is priced per report and most clients compare two reports months apart. This protocol helps make sure the second report is comparable with the first.
- Freeze the inputs. Write down every query, competitor, engine, language and persona used in the baseline report, and ask Hotwire to reuse them unchanged.
- Keep the raw answers. Ask for the CSV export with the full answer text and cited URLs for each query, not only the summary charts.
- Get the definitions. Ask how mentions, visibility rank and share of model are calculated, and what each percentage divides by.
- Log what you change. Record each page edit, press release, analyst briefing and paid placement made between reports, with dates.
- Set up your own referral tracking. Before the baseline, tag AI-assistant referral sources in your analytics so referral and conversion data exist when the follow-up arrives.
- Compare like for like. In the follow-up, compare the same queries on the same engines first, then look at new queries separately.
- Run a cheaper check in between. A monthly check on a few of the same questions in a self-serve tool shows whether movement started early or late.
Hotwire Spark and Prime AI Visibility on the same checks
The table uses the same check for both products in each row, from each company's public pages on October 15, 2026.
| Check | Hotwire Spark | Prime AI Visibility |
|---|---|---|
| Model | Managed | Self-serve |
| Price | Per report | From $69/month |
| Free option | Demo | Flash, monthly |
| Engines | 4 | All five |
| Copilot | Yes | No |
| Cadence | Per report | Monthly, weekly |
| Exports | PDF, CSV | PDF, CSV |
| Recommends | Not listed | Yes |
| Strategist | Yes | No |
Notes: Prime AI Visibility's five are ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview built from Google-grounded answers, not a capture of the live AI Overview panel. Flash covers ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity only. "Recommends" means a metric that records whether an answer explicitly recommends the brand. "Strategist" means the vendor's team selects inputs and interprets results as part of the service.
Methodology note: both columns describe what each company publishes, not measured accuracy or results. Prime AI Visibility is our own product and is held to the same checks, with its limitations listed below. The guide on how to choose an AI visibility tool explains these axes in more depth.
Who Hotwire Spark fits, and who it may not
Likely fit:
- Technology companies whose PR, analyst relations and marketing teams want one shared report on how AI answers describe them.
- Teams that already work with Hotwire, or want strategists to choose queries and competitors and turn findings into a plan.
- Brands that need Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overview coverage, or reports in several languages.
Weaker fit:
- Teams that want to log in, edit questions and rerun checks themselves.
- Buyers who need a published price or a free trial before talking to sales.
- Teams that need AI referral or conversion data from the same platform.

Where Prime AI Visibility fits
Prime AI Visibility is a self-serve AI visibility tracker for teams that want to run their own saved buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview, then read every saved answer with the brands named and the links shown. It reports Brand named, Website cited, Source links and Explicit recommendation, each defined on the metrics page.
The Prime AI Visibility features include saved-answer evidence, an AI Search Predictor that finds questions worth pursuing, and a Content Studio that drafts source-enriched pages as files, with nothing published without approval. Flash is free each month for five questions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, with up to 15 answers and no card. Starter is $69 a month, and the pricing page lists every plan.
Limitations: Prime AI Visibility does not track Microsoft Copilot, Grok or Google AI Mode. It does not report sentiment, AI crawler visits, traffic or conversions, so referral and conversion data must come from your analytics. It does not include strategists who choose your questions or run PR and analyst work for you.
When the next job is implementation
A report shows where a brand stands; earning coverage on the sources answers cite is separate work. Hotwire sells that work itself through Radiate and its PR and digital services. As an AI Visibility Platform for in-house teams, Prime AI Visibility stops at measurement, recommendations and draft files.
If you want a different partner for the work, Percepture, founded in 2004 and Inc. 5000-recognized, offers generative engine optimization services within its wider digital marketing and PR services. Fit: a team that wants SEO, GEO, digital PR and content work aimed at the sources AI answers cite, done by people. Limitation: Percepture is a services firm, not a tracking platform, so it pairs with a tool such as Hotwire Spark or Prime AI Visibility rather than replacing one. Prime AI Visibility has a commercial relationship with Percepture.
Teams with a large content backlog can also look at Pyra's AI agents for marketing and sales, which include human-approved content operations agents. Pyra's AI visibility case study describes an anonymized digital-infrastructure company with more than 35 years in business and reports a 3,000% increase in AI and LLM visibility signals. That is Pyra's published client result, not a benchmark to expect.
Before a vendor demo, a free AI visibility checker run on your top five buyer questions gives you saved answers to compare against the sample report. Whether you choose an AI Search Visibility Platform, an AI Brand Visibility Tool or a managed report, keep the questions fixed so results are comparable.
