Otterly.ai vs Writesonic GEO Visibility Tracking: Plans, Engines and Claim Check for 2026
If you searched "otterly.ai vs writesonic geo visibility tracking", the main split is a monitoring-first product against a writing-and-SEO platform that added tracking. OtterlyAI starts at $29 a month, tracks four engines daily, sells three more as add-ons and offers a seven-day trial without a card. Writesonic's standard brand plans start at $79 a month billed annually; their entry tier tracks three engines daily and bundles AI articles and site audits.
This comparison reads each company's pricing, product and help pages as published in October 2026. Prime AI Visibility publishes this site, competes with both products and appears later with its own limitations. Otterly publishes two pages about Writesonic, and several of their statements no longer match Writesonic's pricing pages, so the claim check below sets them side by side.
Otterly.ai vs Writesonic GEO visibility tracking: the short answer
- Choose OtterlyAI if you want a low published entry price, a trial with 50 prompts, monitoring that reads each engine's public website, and recommendations and audits your own writers act on.
- Choose Writesonic if you want SEO tools, AI articles, site audits and daily tracking in one standard brand subscription. Those self-serve brand plans include three engines; agency plans have separate coverage.
- On engines: Otterly includes four engines and sells Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as add-ons from Lite. Writesonic's standard brand plans include three engines, with more on Enterprise. Its separate Agency Starter lists seven, excluding Claude and Muse Spark.
- On Otterly's Writesonic pages: the plan names, the starting point for tracking and the agency and Looker Studio statements are out of date. Writesonic's tracking now starts at $79, not $199.
- On free evaluation: Otterly's trial is seven days with no card. Writesonic's pricing page says "Start free. No credit card needed" and does not state the trial length.
Who the two companies are
OtterlyAI. OtterlyAI, also written Otterly.AI, is based in Vienna, Austria, and was founded by Thomas Peham, its CEO, Josef Trauner and Klaus-M. Schremser. Its About page says 40,000 marketing professionals were using the product by August 2026, which is the company's own figure, and that Gartner named it a 2025 Cool Vendor in AI in Marketing. In December 2024, TechCrunch reported that Otterly was leaving stealth after passing 1,000 users.
Writesonic. Writesonic went through Y Combinator's Summer 2021 batch and began as an AI writing tool. Its Y Combinator profile now describes it as a platform for generative engine optimization (GEO), and its site lists a tracking dashboard, an Action Center, AI Agent Analytics, AI search volume, an ads monitor, a shopping tracker, an AI Article Writer and SEO tools. Its documentation says 13,000+ marketing teams use it; that is the company's own figure.
Plans, prices and engines on the same checks
The table compares Otterly plans with Writesonic's standard brand plans, using their October 2026 pricing pages. Writesonic's agency plans are discussed separately below.
| Check | OtterlyAI | Writesonic |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $29/month | $79/month annual |
| Free option | 7-day trial | Free trial |
| Entry engines | 4 | 3 |
| Top-tier engines | 4 + 3 add-ons | 9 on Enterprise |
| Cadence | Daily | Daily |
| Sentiment | All plans | Growth and up |
| Content tools | Audits, advice | Articles, audits |
Notes, row by row:
- Entry price. Otterly's Lite is $29 a month, or $25 billed annually, for 15 prompts. Writesonic's Starter is $79 a month billed annually, for 50 prompts and 50 answers tracked daily. Writesonic's other self-serve plans are Basic at $199 and Growth at $399, billed annually, and its page says annual billing saves 20%.
- Free option. Otterly's help centre, updated August 4, 2026, describes a seven-day trial with 50 prompts, 1,000 API and MCP calls each, 50,000 Agent Analytics events and 100 GEO audit URLs, without a card. Writesonic's trial length is not stated on its pricing page.
- Engines. Otterly includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot on every plan, and sells Google AI Mode and Gemini at $9, $59 or $149 a month and Claude at $29, $109 or $439 on Lite, Standard and Premium. Writesonic's three self-serve engines are ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and its Enterprise column lists nine platforms, including Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Copilot, Google AI Mode and Muse Spark.
- Sentiment. Otterly lists brand sentiment analysis on every plan. Writesonic's pricing page marks sentiment as available from Growth.
- Content tools. Writesonic's plans include 15, 25 or 50 AI articles a month and 10, 20 or 50 site audits. Otterly's plans include GEO URL audits (1,000, 5,000 or 10,000 a month) and recommendations, and leave drafting to your team.
Both vendors' own pages disagree on how many engines they cover. Otterly's features page says it tracks "all 7 major AI search engines", its pricing page includes four, and its alternatives hub describes six. Writesonic's pricing page says nine, its tracking page says "8 platforms" and also refers to "6 more platforms" beyond four named engines, and its agency Starter column covers all models except Claude and Muse Spark. Ask each vendor to name the engines in your contract.
Prompts and answers are different units. Otterly sells prompts: 15, 100 or 400, with extra 100-prompt blocks at $99 a month on Standard and Premium. Writesonic lists prompts and answers separately: Basic is 100 prompts and 300 answers tracked daily, which is one answer per engine per prompt, and Growth is 200 prompts and 600 answers. Starter lists 50 prompts and 50 answers on three engines, so ask Writesonic how those answers are spread. Compare the plans in each vendor's own unit, because Otterly does not say whether a prompt runs once on every included engine.
Methodology note: this is a comparison of public specifications, not a measurement of accuracy or results. Where a vendor's pages disagree with each other, both figures are reported.
How each product collects answers and what it measures
OtterlyAI. Otterly's help centre says it posts prompts through each AI platform's public website, such as chatgpt.com, rather than through APIs, and adds that it uses an API only for Claude tracking. It monitors every tracked prompt daily and queries each prompt from the country you assign to it. It reports Brand Coverage, share of voice, a Net Sentiment Score and average position, along with domain citation metrics. Its KPI page defines those formulas, and a full answer can be opened in the dashboard.
Writesonic. Writesonic says it crawls the AI interface "like a real user. Not through APIs", every day. Its tracking pages list visibility, citations, sentiment and share of voice, filtered by competitor, market, language and intent, with exports as PDF, CSV or shareable reports. The pages reviewed list those metrics without formulas, so ask Writesonic how visibility and share of voice are calculated before comparing them with Otterly's published definitions.
Both claim interface capture, so it is not a deciding factor. The more useful test is whether you can open the full saved answer and the exact cited URLs for any prompt on the plan you would buy.
The five AI visibility signals
Each signal moves on its own, so it helps to see which product covers which:
- Mention (the answer names the brand): both, through Brand Coverage and share of voice at Otterly and visibility and share of voice at Writesonic.
- Citation (the answer links your site or a source about you): both, through citation source tracking at Otterly and citation analysis at Writesonic.
- Recommendation (the answer suggests your brand over others): both report sentiment, and Otterly adds position. Neither published page lists a metric that records an explicit recommendation, so read the answer text.
- Referral (someone clicks through): Otterly's Agent Analytics from the Standard plan, and Writesonic's AI Agent Analytics, both pair crawler data with referral data.
- Conversion (the visit becomes a lead or sale): Writesonic lists a Google Analytics 4 integration. Otterly describes connecting referral traffic to signups and revenue as a next step. Confirm what reaches your CRM with either vendor.
Content and action: where the two products differ most
OtterlyAI. Otterly diagnoses and recommends rather than writing inside the product. Every plan includes crawlability checks, content audits, GEO URL audits and recommendations, three a week on Lite and unlimited from Standard. It has an API, an MCP server and a marketplace of workflows, and the Standard plan includes a Looker Studio connector.
Writesonic. Writesonic's Action Center ranks gaps across new content, page refreshes, external mentions and technical fixes. Full access is Enterprise only, and Growth gets a trial of five off-page and five on-page actions a month. Every self-serve plan includes AI articles, site audits and limited agentic workflow runs (10, 50 or 100 trial runs).
In our judgement, the split is about who writes. Writesonic gives you a predictable volume of drafts and audits bundled with tracking, so it suits teams that want one subscription. Otterly gives your team a list of what to fix and leaves drafting to people or workflows you choose. Whichever you pick, decide who checks facts before anything is published, in line with Google's guidance on creating helpful, reliable, people-first content.
Claim check: what Otterly says about Writesonic
This table is the original analysis in this comparison. Otterly publishes "Best Writesonic GEO Alternative" and a "Writesonic Pricing" comparison. Writesonic's pricing, agency and tracking pages do not mention Otterly, so the check runs one way. Each row sets an Otterly statement against Writesonic's own pages in October 2026.
| Otterly's claim | Where | Writesonic's page says |
|---|---|---|
| Tracking starts at $199 | Both pages | Starter at $79 tracks |
| Plans: Lite to Advanced | Pricing page | Starter, Basic, Growth |
| 100 and 200 prompts | Pricing page | Matches |
| Sentiment on Advanced | Pricing page | Matches Growth |
| No Looker Studio | Feature page | Listed |
| No agency program | Feature page | Agency pricing page |
| Onboarding at $1,499+ | Feature page | Not verified |
| Limited free plan | Pricing page | Free trial |
Notes, row by row:
- Tracking starts at $199. Otterly says Writesonic's lower plans are writing tools only and that tracking begins at its Professional plan. Writesonic's pricing page now lists tracking on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on Starter at $79 a month billed annually.
- Plans: Lite to Advanced. Otterly lists Lite, Standard, Professional and Advanced. Writesonic's page lists Starter, Basic and Growth plus Enterprise.
- 100 and 200 prompts. The prompt counts and annual prices Otterly attributes to Professional ($199) and Advanced ($399) match Writesonic's Basic and Growth plans today, so the figures survived under new names.
- Sentiment on Advanced. Writesonic's pricing page marks sentiment as available from Growth, the $399 plan.
- No Looker Studio. Otterly's feature page says Writesonic has no Looker Studio integration. Writesonic's pricing page lists "Looker Studio & other integrations" on Enterprise, and its agency page lists Looker Studio.
- No agency program. Otterly says Writesonic has none. Writesonic publishes an agency pricing page with an Agency Starter plan that includes 20 pitch projects of one to seven days, and an Agency Enterprise plan.
- Onboarding at $1,499+. Otterly attributes custom onboarding to a $1,499-a-month Enterprise tier. Writesonic lists Enterprise as custom and shows no price, so the figure is not verified.
- Limited free plan. Otterly says Writesonic offers a limited free plan. Writesonic's pricing page offers a free trial and says no card is needed.
Otterly's pages also call Writesonic's automated writing a risk to organic traffic. That is Otterly's opinion about content strategy, not a checkable product fact, and the useful question for either vendor is who reviews a draft before it goes live. Plans change quickly, so treat this check, and any vendor's comparison including this one, as a list of points to confirm in a trial.
An illustrative question set from a public resource site
A tracking set is easier to judge on a real public site than on an abstract brand. My Military Lifestyle publishes articles for military families on its homepage, and its resources page groups military base guides, a military dictionary, pay charts, ranks and other reference tools. My Military Lifestyle is an illustrative public website, not a Prime AI Visibility client or paid partner, and this page says nothing about how any AI engine treats it.
The lesson is about structure. A site with clear resource categories can write its tracking questions by category. The table below is an invented example, not data from either vendor:
| Question group | Invented example question | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Base guides | "What should a family know before a move to a new base?" | Brands named, links shown |
| Terms | "What does an acronym on a military form mean?" | Whether a reference page is cited |
| Pay and ranks | "Where can I find current pay charts?" | Whether an official source is cited |
Run the same questions in Otterly and in Writesonic during the trials, then compare group by group which answers name the site and which links they show.
A side-by-side trial plan
Otterly's trial is seven days and Writesonic's length is not stated, so run both in the same week and start Writesonic's trial on the same day.
- Write your prompts first. List 30 to 50 questions real buyers ask, grouped by product and persona, and keep the exact text outside both tools. Fifty fits inside Otterly's trial allowance.
- Fix the engines. Compare ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Gemini or Perplexity where both products overlap on your plan, because Otterly's entry engines and Writesonic's entry engines share only ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.
- Save evidence by hand. Capture five full answers with cited URLs in each tool on day two, so you can compare them with what each dashboard reports.
- Check the interface claim. Run two of your prompts in the live apps yourself and compare the brands named with both tools' saved answers. Answers vary by session, so expect differences and note them.
- Test one content task. Use one Writesonic article or audit and one Otterly recommendation or GEO audit on the same gap, then review both outputs against your claims and brand rules.
- Ask the same questions on the last day. Engines in your contract, history after the trial, exports, API limits, how metrics are calculated, and who reviews drafts before they publish.
For the exports and API part of that last question, the API limits comparison of Profound, Peec AI, Writesonic and TrioSens shows which plans document an API. The guide on how to choose an AI visibility tool explains each evaluation axis in more depth.
Who each product fits
OtterlyAI is a likely fit for:
- Solo marketers and small teams that want a published price from $29 a month and a trial without a card.
- Teams that need Claude or Google AI Mode without an Enterprise contract.
- Agencies that want unlimited workspaces on Standard and the agency partner program, and teams that prefer to write content themselves.
Writesonic is a likely fit for:
- Growth teams that want SEO tools, AI articles and site audits bundled with daily tracking in one subscription.
- Teams that need a bigger prompt-and-answer allowance with sentiment on Growth and a custom Enterprise plan for nine platforms.
- Agencies that want pitch projects, since its agency Starter plan includes 20 short pitch projects a month.
Weaker fit for either: teams that only need saved evidence for a small set of buyer questions and do not plan to use audits, articles or traffic analytics. For a wider shortlist, see our guide to AI visibility tools for B2B companies, or our Profound vs Otterly AI comparison and Profound vs Writesonic comparison, which set each product beside an enterprise platform. Where Prime AI fits
Prime AI Visibility is an AI visibility tracker for teams that want to run a smaller set of saved buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview, then read every saved answer with the brands named and the links shown. It reports Brand named, Website cited, Source links and Explicit recommendation, each defined on the metrics page.
The Prime AI Visibility features include an AI Search Predictor that finds questions worth pursuing and a Content Studio that drafts source-enriched pages as files, with nothing published without approval. Flash is free each month for five questions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, with up to 15 answers and no card. Starter is $69 a month for all five, and the pricing page lists every plan. Teams that want a free first look can also use it as an AI visibility checker before paying for any tracker.
Limitations: Prime AI Visibility does not report sentiment, rank, AI crawler visits, traffic or conversions, so referral and conversion data must come from your analytics. It has no prompt-volume data, no auto-publishing and no ad tracking. It checks monthly by default, with weekly, temporary daily and on-demand checks on paid plans, and does not track Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI or Google AI Mode.
When the next job is implementation
An AI Visibility Platform, whether Otterly, Writesonic or another, shows where a brand stands and suggests fixes. Earning coverage on the publications, forums and review sites that answers cite is still work for people, and no AI Search Visibility Platform writes that coverage for you.
Percepture, a company connected to Prime AI Visibility, covers AI visibility tools and measurement, and its generative engine optimization services cover the work that follows. Fit: a team that wants SEO, GEO, digital PR and content aimed at the sources AI answers cite, done by people. Limitation: Percepture is a services firm, not a tracking platform, so it pairs with a tool rather than replacing one. Prime AI has a commercial relationship with Percepture.
Whichever product you choose, an AI Brand Visibility Tool is only useful if it keeps the same questions from one month to the next, so changes are comparable.
Frequently asked questions
Which is better for GEO visibility tracking, Otterly.ai or Writesonic?
Neither is better for every team. OtterlyAI suits teams that want a low published price from $29 a month, a trial without a card, engines added one at a time and audits and recommendations they act on themselves. Writesonic suits teams that want tracking bundled with AI articles and site audits from $79 a month billed annually.
How much do Otterly and Writesonic cost?
OtterlyAI lists Lite at $29 a month, Standard at $189 and Premium at $489, or $25, $160 and $422 billed annually, with custom Enterprise pricing from 1,000 prompts. Writesonic lists Starter at $79, Basic at $199 and Growth at $399 a month billed annually, with custom Enterprise pricing.
Which AI engines do Otterly and Writesonic track?
OtterlyAI includes ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, and sells Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude as add-ons. Writesonic's self-serve plans track ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and its Enterprise plan lists nine platforms.
Do Otterly and Writesonic offer a free trial?
OtterlyAI offers a seven-day free trial with 50 prompts and no credit card. Writesonic's pricing page offers a free trial and says no credit card is needed, but it does not state how long the trial lasts.
Does Writesonic track AI visibility on its cheapest plan?
Yes. Writesonic's Starter plan at $79 a month billed annually tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews with 50 prompts. Otterly's pages that say tracking starts at $199 no longer match Writesonic's current pricing page.
Can I compare an Otterly score with a Writesonic score?
Only after checking definitions. Otterly publishes formulas for Brand Coverage, share of voice, Net Sentiment Score and average position, while Writesonic's pages list visibility, citations, sentiment and share of voice without formulas, so ask Writesonic how each is calculated first.
