If you searched "profound vs hotwire gaio.tech", here is the summary. Profound is a New York software company with a self-serve free trial and custom Enterprise packages, built around daily answer tracking, AI crawler analytics and marketing agents. GAIO.tech is the name Hotwire first gave to its AI visibility service, which Hotwire renamed Hotwire Spark in March 2025: a managed service where Hotwire's team runs a report for you, priced per report with no free trial. The choice is mostly software you operate versus a service Hotwire delivers.

This comparison uses each company's own pages as they read on October 17, 2026, plus the earlier press releases that explain the rename. It compares public specifications and is not a hands-on test of either product. Where we add professional judgement, we say so. Prime AI Visibility publishes this site and is evaluated on the same criteria, with its own limits.

Profound vs Hotwire GAIO.tech: the short answer

  • Model. Profound is self-serve software with a trial and a sales-led Enterprise plan. Hotwire Spark is a managed service: its FAQ says "our team generates reports on your behalf" and shares them by secure link.
  • Price. Profound's pricing page lists a free Trial and a custom Enterprise package, and says its Agents run on credits. Hotwire says Spark is priced per report, with volume reductions, and publishes no figures.
  • Free route. Profound's Trial runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Hotwire offers no free trial, only a demo with a sample report.
  • Engines. Profound lists up to nine on Enterprise, including Claude, Perplexity and Copilot. Hotwire Spark lists four: ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overview.
  • Data beyond answers. Profound sells AI crawler and referral analytics and a prompt-volume dataset. Hotwire's pages describe monitoring and recommendations, and do not describe crawler or referral tracking.
  • Our judgement. Profound fits teams with a budget and an internal owner who want to log in and run agents. Hotwire Spark fits communications teams that want a strategist-led report tied to media and analyst work. Neither is better for every team.

GAIO.tech, Hotwire Spark and why the name changed

Hotwire launched GAIO.tech on May 21, 2024 as its first proprietary AI tool, for showing how brands appear in AI assistants. In March 2025 Hotwire Global announced an AI Lab and referred to "Hotwire Spark (formerly known as GAIO.tech)". Today the gaio.tech address redirects to Hotwire's AI Lab page. GAIO Tech at gaiotech.ai is a separate company, so check the domain before you compare anything.

The name came from a term. A March 2024 Hotwire blog post defined Generative AI Optimization, or GAIO, as an emerging practice similar to search optimization. That is why a search for "gaio.tech" still leads to a product that now has a different name. This guide uses "Hotwire Spark" for the product and "GAIO.tech" when the search term itself is meant.

What each product reports

Both products start from the same job: ask AI assistants questions and record what the answers say. They differ in what they do with the result.

Profound. Its Answer Engine Insights measures how answer engines mention, rank and describe a brand, with share of voice, citation sources, sentiment and competitor comparison. Profound says it captures responses from the consumer browsing experience rather than from model APIs. Its Agent Analytics covers AI crawlers and AI-sourced traffic across your domains, and its Prompt Volumes product shows what users ask AI engines. The pricing page lists Google Analytics, Cloudflare, AWS and other integrations for Agent Analytics.

Hotwire Spark. Hotwire's site says reports show how often a brand is mentioned, the context around each mention, which competitors appear alongside it, and which sources AI platforms cite. It also lists the media channels and analyst firms that appear most, and suggested content topics to raise "citability". Spark's FAQ says each report queries the AI platforms fresh at the time of generation, supports multiple languages and downloads as a PDF with CSV data exports.

In our judgement, the clearest difference is the audience. Profound's pages are written for marketers who will run the product, and Hotwire's are written for PR, communications and analyst-relations teams who will act on a report.

Profound's Trial uses a recommended prompt set, and its FAQ says Trial users cannot customize prompts. Enterprise users can edit, disable and add prompts. The pricing page also lists no history, exports or API on the Trial and all-time history, CSV and JSON exports and an API on Enterprise. Its FAQ mentions a self-serve Agency Growth plan with 400 credits per month per client workspace, so agencies should read that plan's page separately.

Hotwire's FAQ says Spark is priced per report, with volume-based reductions for multiple reports or ongoing monitoring, and that most clients run a follow-up report three to six months after making changes. Because a report is the unit of sale, the number of questions, competitors and languages you choose changes the price.

Engines and coverage

Profound's Enterprise column lists capability for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search, with up to nine tracked. The Trial covers three: ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Hotwire Spark's FAQ names ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overview as the four platforms it covers.

Two practical points follow. First, if Claude, Perplexity or Google AI Mode matter to your buyers, only Profound lists them. Second, if Microsoft Copilot matters, both list it. In our judgement, the useful question is not which list is longer but whether the engines your buyers use are in the plan you would actually buy.

Plan arithmetic

The trial and report sizes are easier to compare as answer counts.

  • Profound Trial: 50 prompts × 3 engines × 7 days = 1,050 daily answer runs over the week, if every prompt runs on every engine each day. The pricing page states the prompt count, frequency and engines but not how runs are counted, so ask.
  • Hotwire Spark report: the pages do not state a prompt count. A report you design with Hotwire's strategists might hold, for example, 30 questions across 4 engines, which is 120 answers at one moment. That is an illustration, not a published limit.

Daily tracking shows how much answers move within a week. A single report shows one moment. Neither is a trend on its own, so judge each against the follow-up cadence you can afford.

How each handles actions and agents

Profound sells execution as well as measurement. Its Agents work from your brand context and run on credits, and its AI Marketer orchestrates them. Credits are consumed each time an Agent runs, and the FAQ says the account can be set to pause or bill overage.

Hotwire sells execution as a service. Hotwire Radiate scores a draft or published page for "AI-citability", returns an optimized version and supplies schema markup code. Hotwire Ignite uses agents to research accounts and is not an answer tracker. In our judgement, Profound's agents are software features and Hotwire's equivalents are products sold alongside consulting, which changes who does the work and who owns the review.

Mention, citation, recommendation, referral and conversion

Whatever you choose, keep five signals separate in your reports.

  1. Mention. An answer names your brand.
  2. Citation. An answer links to a page you own.
  3. Recommendation. An answer suggests you for the buyer's need.
  4. Referral. A visitor arrives from an AI tool. Profound's Agent Analytics targets this from your own site traffic. Hotwire's pages point to your own analytics.
  5. Conversion. The visit becomes a lead or sale, measured in your CRM.

Spark's FAQ suggests clients track paid media return, brand sentiment and website conversion rates after acting on a report. Those numbers come from the client's own systems, not from Spark. The metrics page defines each measure used on this site.

Methodology note: the table describes what each company publishes, not measured accuracy or outcomes, and Prime AI's five are ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview built from Google-grounded answers, not the live AI Overview panel. Prime AI is our own product, held to the same criteria, with limits listed below. Our advice on how to choose between monitoring products explains these axes in more depth.

Who each one fits

Profound fits enterprise brands and larger agencies with an internal owner, a procurement process and a need for crawler, referral and agent features in one product. Limitation: no self-serve price is published for Enterprise, the Trial cannot customize prompts, and credit-based Agents make cost depend on usage.

Hotwire Spark fits technology and B2B communications teams that want strategists to select questions and competitors, and a report that points to the media outlets and analyst firms answers cite. Limitation: it is not self-serve, a report is a moment in time, it lists four engines and its pages do not describe crawler or referral tracking.

Neither fits well when you need a published monthly price, a team that wants to rerun the same questions every week without a vendor, or a small budget. For a wider view, see our comparison of monitoring options for B2B companies, and our explainer on what these products measure.

A one-week test plan for either vendor

Use the same inputs in both so the outputs can be compared.

  1. Write 15 questions with no brand names, drawn from sales calls and search terms. Freeze the wording.
  2. Save a baseline first. Run the same questions yourself and keep the answers with their links.
  3. Give both vendors the same questions and competitors. For Hotwire, agree the list in the strategist session. For Profound's Trial, note which of your questions its recommended set replaced.
  4. Check engines. List which engines each output actually covers, and which of them your buyers use.
  5. Open ten answers. For each, check that the full text, the names mentioned and the exact URLs cited are visible, not only a score.
  6. Compare with the baseline. Differences are normal because answers vary from run to run. Large, consistent gaps are worth asking about.
  7. Ask the closing questions. What is exportable, what does the next report or month cost, and what survives if you stop?

Where Prime AI fits, and where it does not

Affiliation: Prime AI Visibility is our own product. It fits this comparison as a low-cost way to hold both vendors against saved answers of your own.

The product's features save each answer with the names mentioned and the links shown across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview. You write the questions. Flash is free: five questions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, up to 15 answers a month, no card. Starter at $69 a month covers all five.

Limitations: Prime AI Visibility does not track Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI or Google AI Mode. It does not report sentiment or rank, and it does not record crawler visits, traffic or conversions, so referral and conversion data must come from your analytics. It does not grade whether a fact is correct, and it has no strategists who choose questions or run PR and analyst work for you. Checks run monthly by default, with weekly, temporary daily and on-demand checks on paid plans. PyraBuilds' Prime AI agent profile describes the product in Pyra's agent catalogue.

When the next job is implementation

A report or dashboard shows where a brand stands. Earning coverage on the sources answers cite is separate work, and it is where a communications team's time goes. Percepture, founded in 2004 and Inc. 5000-recognized, offers generative engine optimization services and enterprise SEO services that combine SEO, GEO and digital PR. Fit: a team that wants search, answer-engine and earned-media work planned together. Limitation: Percepture is a services firm, not a monitoring product, so it pairs with software or a report rather than replacing one. Prime AI Visibility has a commercial relationship with Percepture.

Teams that want repeatable workflows outside a dashboard can also look at Pyra's AI agents for marketing and sales, which include human-approved content operations agents. Pyra is also commercially connected to Prime AI Visibility.
