DeepSeek Cheap Rank Tracking Tools: Free and Budget Options Compared
The DeepSeek cheap rank tracking tools worth using are a free DeepSeek account run by hand, a pay-as-you-go API script, and free plans or trials of paid trackers. Compare them by cost per usable answer, not sticker price. Check that each one keeps the full answer, its sources, your history, competitor names and an export.
DeepSeek cheap rank tracking tools: the short answer
- The free route costs time, not money. DeepSeek's official app is free to use. You type the questions, read the whole answer with its sources, and paste it into a sheet. The price is a few hours a month.
- The cheapest paid route costs fractions of a cent per answer, but measures something else. DeepSeek's API bills by the token, and a short brand question costs very little. Its documentation describes no built-in web search, so an API check is not the answer a buyer sees with Search on.
- "Free" on a vendor's home page does not mean DeepSeek is on the free tier. Some trackers name DeepSeek in their headline but include it only on a paid plan or as an add-on. Read the plan table before you sign up.
What a cheap DeepSeek tracker still has to record
A low price only helps if the record is usable next month. The broader guide to what DeepSeek rank tracking tools can actually record explains why DeepSeek has no numbered rank and how its app, Search mode and API differ. This page assumes that and asks one narrower question: which free or low-cost route gives you enough evidence for the money?
Seven checks decide it:
- Answer capture. The full answer text is saved, not a score or a summary.
- Sources shown. Every source link the answer displayed is saved, in order.
- Evidence kept. The saved copy is yours and survives if a chat is deleted or a trial ends.
- History. Last month's answers sit beside this month's, with the same wording.
- Rivals named. Each competitor in each answer is written down.
- Exports. Rows leave the tool as a file you can open elsewhere.
- Hard limits. You know the caps: questions, runs, balance, days left, or hours of your own time.
These line up with the fields Prime AI Visibility publishes on its metrics and methodology page: Brand named, Website cited, Source links and Explicit recommendation. A cheap method that cannot fill those four fields gives you a number you cannot defend later.
Is there a free DeepSeek rank tracker?
A conventional search engine returns a ranked list of pages, so a classic rank tracker can report a position number. DeepSeek generates a written answer to each question, so the evidence is different: whether the answer names your brand, links your site, and which sources it shows. Three free routes collect that evidence, and one route that sounds free measures something else.
A free DeepSeek account, used by hand. DeepSeek's App Store listing describes its official assistant as free. The web chat asks you to sign up or log in, and offers Google and Apple sign-in. You control the questions, you can switch Search on, and you see every source the answer shows. DeepSeek's privacy policy says you can copy or delete your chat history in settings. That is useful, but it is not an export, so paste each answer into your own sheet the day you run it.
Free plans of paid trackers. Several AI visibility platforms offer a free plan or a free trial. The catch is coverage. A plan can be free and still leave DeepSeek out. The vendor reading below shows how often that happens.
One-shot free checks. Some vendors run a free report on your site. These are fast, but you rarely see which questions were asked, whether DeepSeek's Search was on, or the full answer. Our guide on how to judge an AEO checker before you rely on its score lists the questions to ask about any quick checker.
Free crawler logs are not answer tracking. A free plugin that logs AI crawler visits tells you which pages a bot fetched. It does not tell you what DeepSeek said to a buyer. Keep that data, but do not file it under DeepSeek rank tracking.
One rule applies to every free route. DeepSeek's terms of use list "capturing, copying any content of the Services, including but not limited to using any robots, spiders, or other automatic setups" among prohibited activities. A person keeping notes of their own chats is ordinary record keeping. A script that drives the chat product is not. If you want automation, the documented route is the API.
How much does a DeepSeek check cost per answer?
Sticker price hides the real cost. A cheap DeepSeek rank tracker that saves half its answers costs twice as much per useful answer as it seems. Use one formula across every route:
cost per usable answer
= (money + hours x rate)
/ usable answers
Three words need a definition. "Requested" is questions times runs. "Returned" is the answers you actually got. "Usable" is returned answers that are on topic and complete. The metrics page uses the same requested, returned and usable vocabulary, which keeps your sheet and any tool report counting the same things.
Each route puts its cost in a different place:
- By hand: money is zero, so the cost is all hours.
- API script: money is tokens, plus the hours to build and check the script once.
- Free plan or trial: money is zero until the limit, then it is the plan price. If DeepSeek is an add-on, count the add-on.
- Paid platform: divide the monthly price by the DeepSeek answers it actually returns per month, not by the prompt count on the pricing page.
The last point matters most. If a plan advertises a number of prompts, ask how many of them run on DeepSeek, how often, and whether each run counts once or once per engine.
What does the DeepSeek API cost for brand checks?
DeepSeek's API is the cheap paid route. DeepSeek's Models and Pricing page listed these prices on 11 October 2026, per one million tokens (a token is a small piece of text, roughly part of a word):
| Per 1M tokens | Flash | V4 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Peak input | $0.30 | $1.32 |
| Peak output | $1.20 | $3.96 |
Flash is the deepseek-flash model and V4 Pro is deepseek-v4-pro. Input means uncached input. Cached input is cheaper still. DeepSeek states that off-peak rates are half of peak: input is $0.15 on Flash and $0.66 on V4 Pro, and output is $0.60 and $1.98. Peak hours are 01:00 to 04:00 and 06:00 to 10:00 UTC, Monday to Friday, excluding Chinese public holidays. Every other hour is off-peak, including weekends. Charges come from your topped-up balance, or from a granted balance first if you have one.
An illustration, not a quote. Suppose one brand question uses 60 input tokens and 1,200 output tokens. On Flash at peak, that is about $0.0015 per answer. On V4 Pro at peak, it is about $0.0048. A month of 20 questions run three times is 60 answers: roughly nine cents on Flash, or under thirty cents on V4 Pro, and half that off-peak. Your own numbers will differ, so read them from the usage block each response returns. That block reports input and output tokens, and it lists reasoning tokens inside the output count. Both models default to thinking mode, so an answer can cost more than its visible text suggests.
Three limits keep this honest:
- It is not DeepSeek's Search. The API documentation describes no built-in web search. The Responses API guide lists web_search among built-in tools that are ignored. An API answer shows what the model says without DeepSeek's own search results.
- Adding your own search changes the bill. You can attach a search tool through tool calls. The pages it returns become input tokens, and the search service charges separately.
- There are hard caps. DeepSeek lists a concurrency limit per account of 2,500 requests for deepseek-flash and 500 for deepseek-v4-pro, with an HTTP 429 error above it. For a monthly brand check, that cap will not bind. Your balance and your script will.
The token bill is rarely the expensive part. The hours to write, run and check the script are, and so is explaining to a colleague why the API answer differs from what they saw in the app.
Which budget route records the most evidence?
This table rates ways of collecting DeepSeek evidence on a budget, not named products, because free tiers and add-ons differ by vendor and plan. Ratings are words, not scores. "Verify" means the answer depends on the vendor and plan, so test it on the plan you would buy before you rely on it. The vendor pages behind the third column are summarized in the next section.
| Check | By hand | API script | Free tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Answer capture | strong | strong | verify |
| Sources shown | strong | none | verify |
| Evidence kept | partial | strong | verify |
| History | partial | strong | verify |
| Rivals named | strong | strong | verify |
| Exports | strong | strong | verify |
| Hard limits | partial | strong | verify |
| Money cost | $0 | low | $0 |
Notes on the ratings. By hand rates strong on capture, sources and rivals because you read the whole answer with Search on and write down what you see. It rates partial on evidence kept and history because both depend on you pasting every answer into a sheet, and partial on limits because the real limit is your own time, which only you can measure.
The API script rates strong on capture, history and exports because the response is text you store as you like, and strong on limits because DeepSeek publishes prices and concurrency caps. It rates none on sources because the API has no built-in search, so there are no DeepSeek Search sources to save.
The free tier column is "verify" everywhere except cost, and that is the finding. A free plan that leaves DeepSeek out, holds back exports, or ends before you have two months of history cannot be judged on its price.
Do free and cheap trackers include DeepSeek?
Vendor plan pages stated the following at the same snapshot date as the API prices above.
- OpenLens lists DeepSeek among seven platforms on its home page and offers a free plan with no credit card. Its pricing table shows DeepSeek as not included on the Free plan and included from the Starter plan. PDF export is also not on the Free plan.
- LLM Pulse has a DeepSeek tracking page that states DeepSeek tracking is a paid add-on on every plan, and offers a 14-day free trial.
- Beamtrace has a DeepSeek rank tracker page that says "Everything is free and preset" and reports a position metric. The same page lists Export and share as coming soon.
- Rankscale states that DeepSeek visibility is included in its platform engine coverage, and links to a free trial. The page describes ongoing monitoring for subscribed teams, "not a one-off free check."
- Cairrot promotes a free WordPress plugin that logs visits from more than 20 AI crawlers. That measures crawler visits, not DeepSeek answers.
- Prime AI Visibility supports ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview built from Google-grounded answers. It does not currently support DeepSeek on any plan. Check the AI visibility tracker features for the supported-engine workflow; DeepSeek remains a separate manual record. See Prime AI Visibility pricing for current plan limits.
The pattern is plain. "Free" and "DeepSeek" appear on the same pages, but not always in the same plan. Before you load your questions, find the line in the plan table that says DeepSeek is included, and check whether exports are on that plan too. For a wider view of what any tracker should report before you compare vendors, see the comparison of Prime AI Visibility with other AI search trackers.
The manual spreadsheet option
Keep your DeepSeek sheet separate from Prime AI Visibility records for supported engines, even when the questions match.
When no free plan includes DeepSeek with exports, a spreadsheet is the cheapest complete record. The parent guide has the full field list and a worked example. The budget version below is narrower, built for speed.
| Column | What to write |
|---|---|
| Question | Exact wording, frozen between months |
| Run | Date, account, country, Search on or off |
| Full answer | The whole text, pasted the same day |
| Brand named | Yes or no |
| Website cited | Yes or no, with the exact URL |
| Source links | Every link shown, in order |
| Rivals | Each competitor named |
| Minutes | Time spent on this row |
The Minutes column is the budget part. It turns "free" into a number you can compare with any plan price.
The run, kept short:
- Pick ten to fifteen questions a buyer would ask before choosing a product like yours.
- Start a new chat for each question, switch Search on, paste the question, and copy the full answer into the sheet.
- Run the set twice in the same week. The second run shows how much answers move on their own.
- Never edit an old row. Next month adds rows.
A worked example, with a fictional company. A ten-person payroll software firm runs 15 questions twice: 30 requested. One run fails, so 29 return. One answer is off topic, so 28 are usable. The Minutes column adds up to 150 minutes. If the marketer's time is worth $40 an hour, the month costs $100, or about $3.57 per usable answer. That looks expensive next to an API answer at a fraction of a cent. It is not the same product. The manual row has DeepSeek's Search sources, and the API row does not.
Read the result the same way. With 28 usable answers, one answer moves a rate by about 3.6 points. A change from 7 of 28 to 8 of 28 is one answer, not a trend.
When paying for a cheap DeepSeek rank tracker makes sense
Free is enough for a small, stable question set. Paying starts to make sense when one of these is true:
- The Minutes column passes the plan price. If a month of hand checks costs more in time than a plan that genuinely includes DeepSeek, the plan is the cheaper option.
- You need more than one person to read the history. A shared tool with exports beats a sheet only one person updates.
- You need more runs. Two runs a month show some variation. Weekly runs by hand get costly fast.
Before paying, send five questions to the vendor:
- Is DeepSeek in the plan I would buy, or an add-on?
- Do you read the DeepSeek app with Search on, or the API?
- How many DeepSeek answers per month does this plan return?
- Do you keep the full answer and every source link?
- Can I export rows and answers on this plan, and for how long is history kept?
If a vendor shows a DeepSeek "position" or "rank", ask what it counts. The comparison of an AI visibility tool with an SEO rank tracker explains why positions from search results do not carry over to generated answers. For the same budget logic applied to another engine, see our guide to free Claude tracking routes.
Where Prime AI Visibility fits, and where it does not
Prime AI Visibility does not currently support DeepSeek. It supports ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview built from Google-grounded answers.
For the engines it does support, Prime AI Visibility's free Flash check covers up to five buyer questions across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity in one completed check per calendar month, with up to 15 answers and no card. Gemini and the AI Overview-style preview are paid, starting on Starter at $69/month with 200 shared credits, up to 25 saved questions and three seats. Exports from saved data cost no credits.
A budget setup that covers DeepSeek too is one question set in two places. Run it by hand in DeepSeek with the sheet above, and save the same questions in Prime AI Visibility for its supported engines. The columns match, so the two records read side by side.
Methodology and sources
This guide compares DeepSeek cheap rank tracking tools by collection route: the DeepSeek app by hand, a script on the DeepSeek API, and free plans or trials of paid trackers. Each route is rated on the same seven checks, in words rather than scores. DeepSeek facts come from DeepSeek's API documentation, terms of use, privacy policy and official app listing. Vendor facts come from each vendor's public plan and product pages. Token costs in the worked example follow from stated assumptions; read your own from the usage block.

Frequently asked questions
Are there free DeepSeek rank tracking tools?
Yes, as ways to record answers rather than positions. Search engines return ranked lists of pages, while DeepSeek generates a written answer, so these tools record whether an answer names your brand, links your site and shows sources. Free DeepSeek rank tracking tools include a free DeepSeek account run by hand with a spreadsheet, free plans or trials of paid trackers, and one-shot free reports. Check each free plan's table: some name DeepSeek on the home page but include it only on a paid plan or as an add-on.
What is the cheapest way to track a brand in DeepSeek?
In money, a free DeepSeek account and a spreadsheet costs nothing. The cost is time, so log minutes per row and work out cost per usable answer. The DeepSeek API is the cheapest paid route, often fractions of a cent per answer, but its documentation describes no built-in web search, so it does not show DeepSeek's Search sources.
How much does a DeepSeek API brand check cost per prompt?
It depends on tokens. At October 2026 prices, deepseek-flash cost $0.30 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens at peak, with off-peak at half. A short question with a 1,200-token answer comes to a fraction of a cent, but read the usage block in each response, because thinking mode adds reasoning tokens to the output count.
Can I automate DeepSeek checks on a free account?
No. DeepSeek's terms of use prohibit capturing or copying content from the Services with robots, spiders or other automatic setups. Keeping notes of your own chats is fine. For automation, use the DeepSeek API, which is billed per token and whose documentation describes no built-in web search.
Do free AI visibility plans include DeepSeek?
Some do not. In October 2026, one vendor's pricing table left DeepSeek off its free plan and included it from the first paid plan, and another listed DeepSeek as a paid add-on on every plan. Before you load questions, find DeepSeek in the plan table and confirm exports are on the same plan.
Does Prime AI Visibility track DeepSeek?
No. Prime AI Visibility supports ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview built from Google-grounded answers. Its free Flash check covers ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity only; Gemini and the AI Overview-style preview start on Starter at $69/month. Teams that need DeepSeek can run the spreadsheet on this page beside the same questions saved in Prime AI.
Same questions, same columns, two records
Keep your DeepSeek sheet by hand and save ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity answers with a free Flash check. Starter at $69/month adds Gemini and an AI Overview-style preview built from Google-grounded answers. DeepSeek is not included on any plan.
